The Ventera Payback Calculator was updated March 5, 2009, to reflect the new, uncapped Federal Tax Credit of 30% of the project cost. As with all matters related to taxes and the interpretation of laws, rules and regulations, we recommend you consult your own tax and other advisors as you deem appropriate.
We hope you find this tool helpful in offering a view of anticipated, but not guaranteed, outcomes. Thank you.
What’s my wind resource?
To find the average annual wind speed, or wind resource, for your area you can visit the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Windpowering America” website, scroll down to “State – Wind Resource Maps” and click on a state to go to its wind resource map. The Minnesota Department of Commerce offers a downloadable map of Minnesota wind speeds measured at 30 meters (100 feet), which is about the average height of most installations of a Ventera turbine. Most of the other maps you will find from the U.S. Department of Energy are measured at 50 meters (about 165 feet) – higher than expected for most installations of Ventera turbines. Please use these as a guide only – wind resources at any particular site, and at any particular height at that site, can vary significantly. If you are looking for a more accurate analysis of your particular site, one of our dealers might be able to help you or you can contact us for more information.
